Cotto Coperture’s authentic Italian roof tile is crafted using the extraordinary clays found in the Basilicata Territory of Southern Italy, a region rich in world history and steeped in natural charm, pride and beauty. Situated between the Tyrrehenian and Ionian seas, the Territory has witnessed the history of many magnificent Mediterranean civilizations, from the ancient Greeks to renowned personalities of the Twentieth Century.
The landscape of this beautiful storied region is as varied as the ancient civilizations it has nurtured and protected, from sandy ocean shores, to bold lakes, to mountains and valleys dotted with storied castles, ancient churches, old fishing villages, olive orchards and farms. Centuries old artisan traditions coexist with modern manufacturing facilities, creating contrast and balance in a region in which some of the earliest stone and clay based tools made by mankind have recently been discovered.
The rooftops of ancient dwellings in the Basilicata Territory still don centuries-old Italian clay roof tiles that provide time tested witness to the quality and pride of Italian artesian craftsmanship. This artesian craftsmanship and proud tradition is captured, protected and nourished by Cotto Coperture.
